My Story

God has indeed been with me. Protecting and covering me during the process that I never thought I would have to go through. I received the most devastating news on August 28, 2017, at the age of 32 years of age, a few weeks before my 33rd birthday. “Julia, I’m so sorry, you have stage-2 Breast Cancer, and the type you have (Triple Negative) is aggressive, and we need to take an aggressive approach, immediately”, I never felt so hurt, defeated, and terrified as to what was to come; I was in complete shock, wishing it were a bad dream. I remember like it was yesterday, my doctor and I were both crying, and me saying continuously, “Are you telling me that I have to plan my funeral?” I remember having to tell my family and friends who did not know in the beginning of August that I had found the lump on my left breast and had several screenings conducted, calling each one of them to let them know what news I had received. Everyone was in complete shock. My treatment plan consisted of (16) rounds of chemo, bilateral double mastectomy, and reconstruction surgery in addition to (2) unexpected lung surgeries due to my right lung collapsing to 40%. (Isaiah 41:10) Through GOD’s love, provision, and protection firsthand, I made it through my journey. I prayed each time over my chemo and surgeries and did not experience any harsh side effects or pain, my hospital bills were all covered in addition to all my living expenses. Giving me peace and daily strength through the storm. (Psalms 23:4) (Psalm 46:1-3,7) (Isaiah 53:5) I’m so grateful for my family, friends, and everyone by my side through my journey. Now being a survivor, and cancer free of 5yearsI want to help others with succeed and become victorious in their journey.
